Now for all you stupid people out there, I’m not telling you to miss your next raid. I’m just suggesting that when you show up for a raid you leave the stupid at the door. Maybe wake the fuck up when the raid starts and do your job right the first time.
As a raid leader you see people make lots of mistakes. Some are accidental, some never seem to go away, but the mistakes that drive me nuts are the ones caused by raiders that show up and half ass it. You’ve all been on those raids, where you wipe to trash pulls, wipe to bosses you’ve had on farm for months, healers are all slow, tanks aren’t picking up their targets, dps is pulling aggro and blowing their CC assignments. You know, the raids that make an otherwise calm, mellow person like myself turn into a boiling inferno of rage.
So why does it happen? Part of it is caused by the assumption that most raiders seem to make that the more times they kill something the less they have to pay attention. If you think that, you’re a tool. You see, no matter how many times you do a boss fight, unless Blizzard goes at it with the nerf bat, it doesn’t get any easier.
“But we used to take 8 minutes to kill that boss and now we do it in 4! See it’s easier!”
Wrong answer genius. Go to the back of the short bus. The fight has not changed. The boss didn’t mysteriously lose half of his health since the first time you killed him. YOU changed. You and your fellow raiders have better gear and more experience now. The fight didn’t get any easier, you got stronger. So, when you show up and assume the boss is just going to roll over and hand out loot if you rub his belly, you throw away that advantage that you have gained. An undergeared raider who takes a fight seriously and tries his hardest, is a thousand times better than a moron in great gear, who’s too busy watching American Idol to pay attention.
