One step closer to Illidan.

September 23rd, 2008 · 10 Comments

I’ve posted here about the problems we’ve had recently with our raids.  Players not showing, people taking breaks before LK, wiping to shit that was on farm, and all kinds of other retarded shit.

But then a couple of weeks ago a guild just below us in progression quit raiding and broke up and we invited a group of them to raid with us.  All I can say is, I should have wrecked some guilds a long time ago.  Fuck recruiting one person at a time.  Bust a guild then grab a half dozen people who actually know what the hell they’re doing.

After a good week of raiding, we went in tonight and got our first council kill.  It wasn’t pretty, we missed two interrupts on the priest when we were below 10%, then the Main Tank on Gathios died at 1%, but we managed to finish them off.  Time of fight 15:10.  Yes that is ten seconds after the enrage timer.  We’re lucky as shit I guess.  It’s a pretty cool fight, and now we have a pretty good chance of downing Illidan before LK, but after being on interrupt duty all night, I have to say one thing…

Fuck Reflective Shield right in it’s ass!  Fuck the shield, fuck her for casting it, fuck the developer who gave it to her.  And fuck every strategy guide that says it reflects 50% of the damage.  Last time I checked my Lightning Bolt spell doesn’t hit for 10-12k, so explain how a shield reflects 5-6k damage on my ass.  I got so tired of dying to a poorly timed spell reflect combined with a Flamestrike/Blizzard/Deadly Poison, that we eventually just stopped dpsing during the shields.

Then we went upstairs and Leroy’d Illidan, cause you just have to.  Expect to read lots of blogs about unprepared raiders and how much I hate Illidan in the weeks to come.

Just fyi, you’re healers won’t be a problem with Illidan.. have fun screaming at the tanks who run directly into the eye-blast…. the people who get parasites and don’t run to the right place to have them removed… Oh, and the retarded druid who battle-rez’s during the elemental phase.

    Good luck :D

Love the blog, your written words remind me of Trox, who by the way is worth playing during raid when you cannot fathom the words to bash the living snot out of the idiots yourself. He fills a much needed void in your raid leading life when your head swells to the point of near explosion and your tongue is so tied up with anger that you can’t get the words out fast enough to call that guy a total jackoff for doing what he did.

P.S. - When people die on council, you can pretty well label them mentally afk. Flamestrike + Blizzard combo’s make melee cry

One angry raid leader my ass, more like one naby raid leader who dies from reflecting shield…

First of all, great blog, I co-lead raids (or Id like to think I do lol) up to SWP and all the stuff you say is so annoyingly true.

    Anyways, gratz on council!
I think you’ll find Illidan far easier, theres a lot less random shit for people to die to and he hits like a wuss, the only semi-hard part is P2, once you get it down expect to see him die very soon. Your hunters gotta MD tho, think they can make it happen? If not maybe I can swing by your server and smack em silly till they learn how to do it.

Following Adruid’s comment: also good luck on tanks missing shield block on shear. It’s a nice way to wipe several times in a row within the first minute. And give your healers an extra yell-credit if they manage to keep the tank alive if he takes it!

Illy gives so much space for stupid mistakes, can’t wait on your next post after some tries :P

“… I got so tired of dying to a poorly timed spell reflect … ”

“Get out of the fucking fire.”

WTS [ESC Key] - Handy to use to stop DPSing a target that has a reflective shield.

When we started Ilidan, our tank somehow did not know to shied block shear. My fault in a way since I assumed he had done at least a minimum of homework. I mean really, MT of a guild about to hit Illidan…
Anyway, we made it to phase 2 a couple times with this particular little challenge still in place. I was spamming HT13, and several other healers were spamming the biggest heals they had as well, and it was maybe a 50/50 chance of getting through phase 1. I was wondering how the heck healers were supposed to have the mana to keep up the tanks in phase 2. It was interesting…
